Jankowski Named Players of the Week
Fort
Wayne,
IN -
IPFW's Fabiana Souza and Peachy Jankowski were
named to the Independent Players of the Week by sports information directors
of Independent universities for the week of October 18.
Souza
was named Offensive Player of the Week. Souza has already
rewrote the IPFW record books in kills in a season (in
2004) and kills in a career. She averaged 5.33 kills per
game
in the Mastodons three matches last week. She had 18 in
the win over Wright State and 14 in the win over Indiana
State. Souza also led the way in the Dons loss to Bowling
Green with 16 kills. For the week she tallied 48 kills,
18 errors, and 111 attempts (.333 attack average). But
it's not all about offense to Souza as she also had 28
digs (3.11 per game) and 8 blocks.
Others
nominated for Offensive Player of the Week included Danielle
Holthe, Texas-Pan American; and Minette Ridenour, South Dakota
State.
Jankowski
was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week. She shares the
distinction with Chrissie Carrigan of Texas Pan American.
Jankowski handled the IPFW serve receive
duties in usual form and racked up 37 digs to help IPFW
improve to 16-3 on the
year. The Fraser, Michigan native averaged 4.11 digs per
game as IPFW went 2-1.
Others nominated included Lindsay Shockman-Rogers, North
Dakota State.
