IPFW
Receives Multiple Honors

IPFW is ranked by the NCAA and remains in the top 50 by RKPI according to
the AVCA/RichKern.com. Senior Fabiana Souza also
received Independent Offensive Player of the Week honors
for a second time.
IPFW
stayed ranked in both digs per game and winning percentage
according to the NCAA. IPFW averages 17.58 digs per game
to place them 30th in the rankings. Murray State currently
holds the top spot with 20.13 digs per game. The Mastodons
currently hold a 0.875 winning percentage which placed
them 22nd on the NCAA's list. There are still six schools
which are undefeated.
The Mastodons
fell two spots this week to 50th according to the AVCA/RichKern.com
RKPI Computer Index. IPFW still holds the 11th spot in
the Mideast Region above Ball State, Miami (OH), and Eastern
Michigan of the MAC and Iowa of the Big Ten. Overall the
Dons are ranked higher than two Big Ten and eleven MAC
teams. The Mastodons are the highest ranked Independent
team.
Fabiana
Souza received
her second Offensive Player of the Week nod for the Independent
teams as voted on by Independent sports information directors.
Souza
played outside hitter against NDSU but was moved back to
the middle against SDSU. She led the IPFW in kills both
matches
with 19 against NDSU (6.3 per game) and 23 against SDSU (4.6
per game). She averaged 5.25 kills per game. For the week
she
combined for a .280 hitting percentage (42-14-100) and also
had 18 digs and two block solos and five block assists.
Others nominated included Amy Anderson, South Dakota State;
Heather Bravo, Texas-Pan American; and Amanda Wiggins, Northern
Colorado.
