Mastodons Defeat Broncs at Independent Tournament

Greeley, CO - The IPFW Women's Volleyball team defeated the Lady Broncs of Texas Pan American Thursday afternoon at the Division I Independent Tournament hosted by Northern Colorado. The Mastodons took the match in three games, 30-13, 30-25, 24-30, 30-18.

The Mastodons took off to an early lead of 2-0 when the Lady Broncs fired back to take game three before IPFW finished the match in game four. Overall the Mastodons hit a .299 and had 9 team blocks.

Fabiana Souza led the way for the Mastodons again with 17 kills. She also had two block solos and three block assists, a game high.

Cynara Martins and Amanda Pfister were close behind Souza with 12 and 11 kills respectively.

Erika Leitzke recorded the Dons only double-double with 44 assists and 10 digs. Leitzke also had two block assists and two service aces for the afternoon.

Peachy Jankowski provided solid service reception with 17 digs for the Dons.

For the Lady Broncs, Danielle Holthe had 15 kills while Heather Bravo and Kellie Phillips each posted a double-double. Bravo had 10 kills and 13 digs while Phillips had 11 kills and 11 digs. Chelsea Blakely posted her double-double with 45 assists and 10 digs.

The Mastodons will face Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Northern Colorado in the Independent Championship on Friday.
