Volleyball Inks Roehm and Schwartz
Fort
Wayne, IN - IPFW women's
head volleyball coach Kelley Hartley Hutton
has announced the addition of Rebekah Roehm
and Jamie Schwartz to the Mastodons' squad
for the 2006 season.
Roehm, a 6'0" middle hitter from Willshire,
Ohio, helped Parkway High School to the State Finals and was
named First-Team All Ohio. She was named District 8 Player
of the Year, first-team all conference and broke the school's
record in kills and blocks. Roehm has a 4.0 grade point average
and will major in Dental Hygiene at IPFW.
"Rebekah hits a heavy ball, already has a consistent jump serve, and brings the type of competitive attitude we search for," Hartley Hutton said. "Our program is fortunate to sign another top-notch student too."
Schwartz, a 5'7" libero from Adams Central High School led her team to the State Finals in 2003 and 2005. She earned first team all-state, broke the school record for assists, and was named first team all-ACAC in 2004 and 2005. An academic all-ACAC choice as well, Schwartz plans to pursue a degree in Nursing.
"We are very excited to have an athlete of Jamie's caliber select IPFW," Hartley Hutton said. "She's quick and versatile and I expect her to vie for playing time as a defensive specialist as a freshman."
