Volleyball Wins Opener of Classic

Miami, OH -The IPFW women’s volleyball team got back on the winning track Friday night, in the opening round of the Miami Best Western/Sycamore Inn Classic, beating Middle Tennessee State 3-0.

The ‘Dons improved to 6-3, by the scores of 30-20, 38-36, and 30-21.

Junior outside hitter Fabiana Souza led the Mastodons attack with 24 kills, 16 digs, two service aces, and a hitting percentage of .426.

Sophomore Nicole Howell and Freshman Cynara Martins each chipped in ten kills. Martins also had 10 digs for her double-double.

Junior setter Ashlee Roth racked up 45 assists in the match to go along with four block assists and a service ace.

The Blue Raiders (2-6) were led by Lindsay Sisco with 20 kills.

IPFW will face host Miami, OH on Saturday at 12:30pm, then take on Georgia Tech in the nightcap at 5pm.
