Volleyball Runs the Table at AmeriHost Invitational

Green Bay, WI-IPFW used wins over Temple University and North Dakota State, on Saturday, to win the AmeriHost Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

In the 'Dons early match, they gutted out a five set match with the Owls, out of the Atlantic 10, 30-27, 30-22, 22-30, 25-30, and 15-10.

Led by the 24 kill/19 dig match from junior outside hitter Fabiana Souza (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, IPFW won its 3rd match in a row.

Freshman Cynara Martins (OH/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) also registered a double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs, as did junior setter Ashlee Roth (Leo, IN) with 57 assists and 13 digs.

Senior Lindsay Brammer (MH/Yorktown, IN) matched Martins' mark of kills with 13 of her own

The Mastodons were slightly out-hit by the Owls (.264-.234) but turned it up defensively with a 91-83 advantage. Nicole Howell (So/OH/Fort Wayne, IN) and Peachy Jankowski (Fraser, MI) chipped in double digit digs with 13 and 18 respectively.

Zhen Jia Liu led Temple with a match high 29 kills and 10 digs.

In the Mastodons' final match of the tournament, the Mastodons dropped the first game of their match with North Dakota State 30-23, but then ripped off games of 30-25, 30-20, and 30-19 for the win.

Martins registered 18 kills in the win. Souza added 12, and Roth doubled up again with 39 assists and 10 digs.

Brammer was a wall in the middle for IPFW with 2 solo blocks and 5 block assists. She also added seven kills, which was good enough to make the All-Tournament Team.
