Chicago, IL- Defense…defense, and a little more defense. That was the formula for win number 19, Friday night, against Chicago State. IPFW topped its season high in digs, and was one short of the season high for blocks, in a 3-1 win over the Cougars.

IPFW topped CSU by the scores of 30-26, 29-31, 30-27, and 30-26.

The Mastodons (19-8) dug up 95 balls in the match. Junior middle blocker Fabiana Souza (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) set a team season mark with 28. Freshman libero Peachy Jankowski (Fraser, MI) was not far behind with 25 of her own, and sophomore Nicole Howell (Fort Wayne, IN) added thirteen.

IPFW also registered 15 blocks. Souza had three solos and two block assists.
