Rockets
Diffused in Five
Toledo,
OH - The IPFW women's volleyball team won a five-set
thriller Tuesday night, in head coach Kelley Hartley Hutton's
return to her alma mater.
The Mastodons,
who moved up one spot in the Northeast regional rankings to
14th this week, got past the Rockets by the scores of 25-30,
30-19, 24-30, 30-27, and 15-11.
After
taking the 4th set, IPFW used a .529 slugging percentage in
the 5th and deciding game for the win.
Junior
middle hitter Fabiana Souza put down a match-high
28 balls, to go along with 14 digs for her double-double.
Freshman
outside hitter Cynara Martins continued her
outstanding season with 15 kills and 15 digs.
Sophomore
outside hitter Nicole Howell completed the
trio of players with double-doubles, ripping 11 kills and
digging up 10 balls.
Senior
setter Lindi Bankowski registered 54 assists
in the match, and freshman libero Peachy Jankowski
recorded a match-high 18 digs.
Toledo
(13-7) was led by Rachel Mohler with 21 kills and 10 digs.
With the
win, IPFW improves to 15-8. They complete the home portion
of their 2004 schedule this weekend with a match against North
Dakota State on Friday night at 7pm, and a contest with Wright
State on Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
