Souza and Martins Power IPFW past Bowling Green

Fort Wayne, IN-For the second time this season, IPFW was able to stop the Bowling Green State University Falcons. The ‘Dons topped BGSU 3-0, on September 3rd, at the Northwestern Labor Day Invite. Wednesday night at the Gates Center, it was IPFW winning by the final of 3-1.

Game scores in the match were 22-30, 30-24, 30-27, and 30-23.

Junior middle hitter Fabiana Souza recovered from an off night, last night, against Eastern Michigan to post 21 kills and 14 digs. She also had one solo block and four block assists.

Freshman Cynara Martins chipped in 15 kills and nine digs. Martins also had two aces in the match.

Senior setter Lindi Bankowski and freshman libero Peachy Jankowski were huge on the defensive side, each digging up 16 balls.

Taylor Twite led BGSU (9-7) with 14 kills. Elizabeth Simon had a match-high 25 digs.

With the win, the ‘Dons improve to 12-6. They will host Marshall University on Saturday night (10/9) at 7pm.
