Win LaQuinta Independent Women’s Volleyball Championship
Orem,
Utah – After a slow start on day one of the
Independent Women’s Volleyball Championship, the Dons
came back to take the title of champ. Junior Fabiana
Souza was named MVP and seniors Lindsay
Brammer and Lindi
Bankowski joined Souza on the All-Tournament
team. The ladies finished this season 24-10.

Game 5: South Dakota State
The Mastodons finished the Jacks of South Dakota State easily
Saturday afternoon after having a tough second game. The
final match scores were 30-20, 31-29, 30-26.
Junior Fabiana
Souza recorded a double double and led the
team in digs (12) and kills (22). Sophomore Nicole
Howell followed Souza in kills with 8 and also had 10 digs. Freshman
Peachy Jankowski had 11 digs for the match. Senior Lindi
Bankowski had 43 assists.
Sophomore Claire
Jackson led the Dons on the blocking side
with four assists. Senior Lindsay Brammer recorded two solos
and one assist for the match.
For the match the Dons hit .197 and had their highest percentage
in game one with .341.
Game 6: Texas-Pan American
In their last game of the tournament the Dons had no trouble
with the Lady Broncs finished with final game scores of 30-16,
30-21, and 30-27.
Junior Fabiana
Souza recorded her fifth double double for
the tournament. She had 13 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Nicole
Howell followed Souza with 9 kills and also had 9 digs. Freshman
Peachy Jankowski recorded 13 digs for the match and senior
Lindi Bankowski had 33 assists.
Sophomore Claire
Jackson was blocking as usual and had one
solo and two assists. Howell and senior Janelle
Pollard each
had a block assist for the match.
Overall the Dons hit .209 for the match and had a .366 in
game two.
Final Statistics for Championship
Junior Fabiana
Souza recorded 121 kills for the tournament.
She was followed by senior Lindsay Brammer with 50. Sophomore
Nicole Howell rounded out the top three with 33 kills.
Souza
dug up 74 balls as did freshman Peachy
Jankowski.
Howell recorded 72 digs for the tournament. Senior Lindi
Bankowski had 250 assists for the tournament.
Sophomore Claire
Jackson led the Dons in the blocking department
with 3 solos and 23 assists. Brammer also had three solos
and 12 assists. Freshman Cynara Martins recorded three solos
and 7 assists. Souza led in solos with 4 and also had 16
assists for the tournament.
