Dons Compete at IUPUI Spring Tournament

Indianapolis, IN - The IPFW Women's Volleyball team participated in the IUPUI Spring Tournament over the weekend and devoured the competition.

The Dons competed against Indiana University, Western Kentucky, University of Indianapolis, and Indiana State and had no trouble with any, easily defeating all four. The Dons were undefeated in all nine games they played in the scrimmage tournament.

IU was the only team the Dons played three times, defeating them, 30-21, 30-24, and 15-12. Western Kentucky was up next and the Dons prevailed with final scores of 31-29 and 30-15.

The Mastodons defeated the University of Indianapolis, 30-21 and 30-25. Indiana State was the final school on the Dons schedule and they were defeated, 30-20 and 30-15.

No stats were kept for the matches since they are considered scrimmages and are unofficial.

"Our team played solid ball on Saturday, especially for our first spring competition," said Head Coach Kelley Hartley Hutton. "It was Erika Leitzke's (Sr. transfer from Troy State) first time handling the setting duties for our team and I am happy to say it was a smooth transition. She puts up a good tempo ball and runs a deceptive offense."
