Raise Record to 8-3
Fort
Wayne, IN- The IPFW women’s volleyball team extended
their winning streak to four matches, Wednesday night at the
Gates Center, with a 3-1 win over the Chippewas of Central
Michigan.
In an exciting match, the ‘Dons won by the scores of 30-22,
30-28, 34-36, and 30-28.
IPFW was actually out-hit in the match .180 to .160, with
CMU pounding out ten more kills than the ‘Dons, but IPFW made
the most of their chances.
Freshman Nicole
Howell (OH/Fort Wayne, IN) continued her scorching
play of late with 13 kills and two service aces.
Fabiana
Souza (So/MB/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Kirsta
Solberg (Sr/OH/Huron, OH) each registered a double-double in the match.
Solberg drilled 13 kills to go along with her 15 digs, while
Souza had 11 kills and ten digs.
Lindi
Bankowski (Jr/S/Temperance, MI) tallied 48 assists for
IPFW.
This is the second time this season that the ‘Dons have beaten
CMU. IPFW beat Central Michigan 3-2 back on August 30th at
the Central Michigan Tournament.
Now 8-3 on the season, IPFW will compete this weekend at the
Wright State Invitational Tournament.
