IPFW Wins 2003 Medical Mutual CSU Invitational
Cleveland,
OH- The IPFW women’s volleyball team dropped St.
Francis (PA) 30-16, 30-16, and 30-19 Saturday night, giving
them a 3-0 tournament record, and the championship of the 2003
Medical Mutual CSU Invitational in Cleveland, Ohio.
Nicole
Howell (Fr/OH/Fort Wayne, IN) and Fabiana
Souza (So/MB/Belo
Horizonte, Brazil) led the IPFW offensive attack with 10 kills
each.
Souza also dug up 16 balls. Adding to the defensive effort
for the Mastodons were seniors Nicole Ray (DS/Fort Wayne, IN)
and Sarah Leffers (L/Fort Wayne, IN) with 13 and 10 digs respectively.
Lindi
Bankowski (Jr/S/Tempeance, MI) registered 23 assists
in the match, while Ashlee Roth (So/S/Fort Wayne, IN) added
14 helpers.
With the win, IPFW’s record goes to 7-3.
Souza and Kirsta
Solberg (Sr/OH/Huron, OH) were named to the
All-Tournament Team.
Solberg was named Tournament-MVP.
The Mastodons return to action on Wednesday night (9/17) hosting
Central Michigan, at the Gates Center, at 7pm.
