Denies Valpo win #20
Fort
Wayne, IN- - Valparaiso came to Fort Wayne on
Tuesday night in search of their 20th win. The search
will continue as the Mastodons turned back the Crusaders
by the final of 3-1.
IPFW dropped the first game 30-22, but stormed back to win
the final three 30-25, 30-27, and 30-27.
Fabiana
Souza (So/MH/Belo Horizante, Brazil) led the ‘Dons
offensive attack with 25 kills and 15 digs. She was also
in on five blocks.
Senior outside hitter Kirsta
Solberg (Huron, OH) also registered
a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs, as did junior
setter Lindi Bankowski (Temperance, MI) with 56 assists and
13 digs.
Senior libero Nicole
Ray (Fort Wayne, IN) added 16 digs
to the ‘Dons defensive effort.
Valpo’s Michelle Robinson was the Crusaders’ leader in kills,
with 16, while Marion Hansen punched her own double-double
with 11 kills and 19 digs.
With
the win (IPFW's 6th staight), the Mastodons improve
to 15-9 on the year. Valparaiso falls to 19-5.
IPFW will return to action on Halloween night (10/31) hosting
Chicago State at the Gates Center at 7pm.
