Volleyball
Runs Streak to Five with win over Oakland
Rochester,
MI- The IPFW women’s volleyball team made it
five road wins in a row Saturday, with a 3-0 win over Oakland
University in Rochester, Michigan.
The Mastodons, never really pressed in the match, won by
scores of 30-23, 30-12, and 30-20.
IPFW dominated in a facets of the game, outhitting the Grizzlies
.430 to .078. They also led in kills (45-30) and digs (41-28).
Leading the Mastodon attack was senior outside hitter Kirsta
Solberg (Huron, OH) with a double-double of 11 kills and
ten digs.
Freshman outside hitter Nicole
Howell (Fort Wayne, IN) was
the only other ‘Don to register in double figure kills, also
with eleven.
Sophomore middle hitter Fabiana
Souza (Belo Horizante, Brazil)
was one kill shy of her 21st double-double of the year with
nine and 12 digs.
Junior setter Lindi
Bankowski (Temperence, MI) contributed
33 assists to the win.
With the win, IPFW improves to 14-9 and will host a very
tough Valparaiso team Tuesday night at the Gates Center.
Match time is set for 7pm.
