Mastodons'
Winning Streak Reaches Four
Edinburg,
TX –The IFPW women's volleyball team made it a clean
sweep of Texas on Sunday afternoon, beating the University
of Texas Pan-American, in a very close match, 3-2.
Coming
off two wins yesterday at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, the
'Dons were a little flat in games one and two. They dropped
those two by the scores of 24-30, and 26-30,
but rebounded nicely to take games four and five, 30-28,
and 30-25.
That set
up a crucial game five which went to IPFW 15-11.
Junior
outside hitter Janelle Pollard had a huge
hitting day with 21 kills. She was just one dig shy of a double-double.
However,
two 'Dons did register doubles. Sophomore middle hitter Fabiana
Souza booked her 20th of the season with 18 kills
and 17 digs.
Junior
setter Lindi Bankowski had 59 assists and
15 digs.
Freshman
outside hitter Nicole Howell, like Pollard,
was one dig shy with 16 kills and nine digs.
Senior
libero Nicole Ray and freshman Kristin
Mann had 25 and eleven digs respectively.
IPFW Head
Coach Kelley Hartley won career matches 224,
225, and 226 over the weekend.
The win
raises the Mastodons' record to 13-9 (4 in-a-row). They will
be off until Saturday (10/18) when they travel to Rochester,
Michigan to face Oakland University at 3pm
