IPFW's 11th Straight Win
Fort
Wayne, IN- The IPFW women’s volleyball team won their
20th game of the season today, defeating Utah Valley State
College, 3-1, in the second match of the 2003 Division I Independent
Tournament at IPFW.
IPFW won the match by the scores of 30-28, 31-33, 30-16,
and 30-19.
The Mastodons, who are the defending tournament champions,
were led by sophomore middle hitter Fabiana Souza (Belo Horizante,
Brazil), who had 28 kills, eleven digs, and a hitting percentage
of .478.
Senior Kirsta
Solberg (OH/Huron, OH) also registered a double-double
with 11 kills and 13 digs.
Junior middle blocker Lindsay
Brammer (Yorktown, IN) had
a career day with 15 kills and a slugging percentage of .429.
In the match, the ‘Dons out-hit the Wolverines .318 to .203.
UVSC was led by Malia Roberts with 11 kills, 11 digs, and
two blocks.
In the opening match of the tournament, it was Northern
Colorado knocking off the University of Texas-Pan American
in three straight.
IPFW will be back in action tonight at 7pm, taking on Texas-Pan
American.
Matches continue Saturday at the Gates Center, beginning
at 10:30am.
