is Just Fine for Mastodons
Fort
Wayne, IN- Sophomore Fabiana Souza (MB/Belo Horizante,
Brazil) blasted home a match high 23 kills in leading IPFW
to a 3-1 win over Oakland University, on Wednesday night at
the Gates Center.
The ‘Dons,
who stretched their current winning streak to nine games,
dropped the Grizzlies by the scores of 26-30, 30-19, 30-21,
and 30-25.
IPFW started out slowly, getting out-hit by Oakland .286
to .185 in the first, but put together hitting games of .432,
.361, in games two and three to take a comfortable lead.
Souza
added 20 digs to her stat-line for a double-double.
Nicole
Howell (Fr/OH/Fort Wayne, IN) added 12 digs in the win.
Senior Nicole
Ray (L/Fort Wayne, IN) was the only other
‘Don with double-figure digs at 15.
Junior setter Lindi
Bankowski (Temperance, MI) assisted
on 51 of IPFW’s 64 kills.
Sarah Miller (Jr/OH) led the Grizzlies (5-17) attack with
16 kills.
At 18-9, a 20-win season is now within striking distance
for Hartley’s Angels.
The Mastodons
next host the Toledo Rockets, Tuesday night (11/11) at
the Gates Center, at 7pm.
