Season
Opener a Success for Women’s Volleyball
Mount Pleasant, MI- The
IPFW Women’s Volleyball team opened the 2003 season on
the road tonight, to rave reviews, sweeping
through the University of Illinois-Chicago in three straight
games at the Central Michigan “Super 8 Classic”.
The Mastodons cruised to a 30-24, 30-24, 30-27 win in just
an hour and twenty five minutes.
Fabiana
Souza (So/MB/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) showed no signs
of a sophomore slump, registering a double-double, with 11
kills and 12 digs.
Senior Kirsta
Solberg (MH/Huron, OH) led the IPFW offensive
attack with 20 kills.
Junior setter Lindi
Bankowski (Temperance, MI) chipped in
13 kills.
Head Coach Kelley Hartley’s team will continue play in the
“Super 8 Classic” Saturday (8/30) with two matches. The Mastodons
face Central Michigan at 1pm and Wisconsin Green-Bay at 4pm.
