Turnstone
Flyers Face IPFW Women's Basketball Team
Fort
Wayne, IN – The
nationally-ranked Turnstone Flyers Wheelchair Basketball
Team will face the IPFW
Women's Basketball Team in an outdoor exhibition
match on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 12:30 p. m at the League For
The Blind & Disabled at 5128 S. Anthony Blvd. The game is
part of the South Side Pride Block Party, hosted by the League.
The ladies will be equal to the guys, by playing from wheelchairs
of their own, hence the name, “Spinning Wheels Contest.”
The Flyers are a nationally-ranked basketball team, infamous
for their speed, agility -- and sportsmanship. Formed in 1998,
their “high hopes” style and determination took them to national-level
competition in only two years. Their dazzling players and leadership
is truly heart-warming.
The IPFW
Womens team is equally skillful, known for their shooting,
and an even match for the Flyers. Will a single hour be long
enough for one to out-do the other? If not, just wait ‘till next
year!
For more information,
call program coordinator Nancy Gasparini at the League For
The Blind & Disabled at 441-0551, ext.
107, or Todd Fruehling at 459-6544.
