Mastodons Fall to Chippewas

Mount Pleasant, MI - The IPFW Women's Basketball team traveled to Central Michigan for their second game of the season. The Chippewas defeated the Mastodons, but it was a close one with a final of 69-61.

The Chippewas started off early and took a 10 point lead at half. Although both teams made the same shots, foul shots were what put Central Michigan ahead. In the end, they won by eight.

Johnna Lewis-Carlisle led the Mastodons offensively, putting up 18 points. She was 6 of 11 from the field and 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. At the charity stripe, Lewis-Carlisle was 3 of 4. She also had two steals for the afternoon.

Ashley Johnson was the only other Mastodon in double figure points with 10. Johnson also dished out three assists and four rebounds.

Juliane Höhne hit double figures in rebounds, knocking down ten. She also put eight points on the board in her 23 minutes.

For the Chippewas, Chasidy Myers had 13 points while Ann Skufca, Erin Kuhl, and Sharonda Hurd each had 11 points. Skufca led in rebounds with eight.

The Mastodons were 41% from the field and 41.7% from the arc. At the free throw line they hit 60% of their shots.

The Mastodons home opener is December 2nd against Kalamazoo College at the Gates Center with a start time of 7 pm.
