Mastodons Fall in Season Opener

Bowling Green, OH - The IPFW Women's Basketball team opened the 2005-06 season on the road at Bowling Green State. Although they were only down by 8 at the end of the first half, the Mastodons fell to the Falcons, 78-50.

IPFW ended the first half on a high note, even though they were down by eight. They were 50% from the field and 83.3% from beyond the arc. In the second, IPFW just couldn't keep it close, falling behind by 28 points in the end.

Ashley Johnson led the Dons in most areas. Johnson put 12 on the board and had five rebounds and five assists after playing 39 minutes against the Falcons. She was 5 of 9 from the charity stripe.

Juliane Höhne and Johnna Lewis-Carlisle each put up 11 points against the Falcons. Höhne was 5 of 9 from the field while Lewis-Carlisle had two steals for the evening.

Tina Moen led the Dons in rebounds with six, all defensive.

The Falcons were led by Liz Honegger with 18 points and Ali Mann and Kate Achter with nine boards each.

The Mastodons will be at Central Michigan on November 26 starting at 2 pm. Their home opener is December 2nd against Kalamazoo College at the Gates Center with a start time of 7 pm.
