Richardson Named Assistant Coach

Fort Wayne, IN – Head Women’s Basketball Coach Bruce Patterson has named Charity Richardson as the new assistant coach, replacing former assistant coach Niecee Nelson. This is Richardson’s first coaching position.

Richardson attended the University of St. Francis and was a point guard for Patterson and Associate Head Coach Chris Paul. While at USF, Richardson excelled in the classroom and on the court. She is ranked 6th for All-Time Scoring (1,310 points) and is in the top 10 for assists.

Richardson was the starting point guard for Patterson and Paul’s 1999 squad that played for the NAIA Division II National Championship. During her career the Cougars were never ranked lower than 10th in the nation, including her junior season when USF was ranked #1 the entire year. Richardson played in 4 elite eights, two final fours, and one national championship, where St. Francis was the national runner-up.

Richardson graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Sports Management, and an MBA with an emphasis in Marketing in 2005.

"I have known Charity since she was a high school player. Charity works hard at everything she does. When you try to hire someone to work with you want to make sure they are as determined to be as successful as you want to be. We know that Charity wants to succeed." said Patterson.
