'Dons Fall in OT by Three

Edinburg, TX - The Mastodons were down by as many as 17 in the first half before fighting back hard to take the game to overtime at Texas Pan American. The Broncs held out though, taking the win 63-60.

UTPA ran out to a 17 point lead, the biggest for the game, just under the nine minute mark, 26-9. At that point the Mastodons took off with a 22-7 run to finish the first half down by only two, 33-31.

In the second, IPFW took their first lead at 15:59 on a free throw shot by Johnna Lewis-Carlisle. The Lady Broncs began to move ahead once again, taking a six point lead with 9:24.

The Mastodons then went on a 12-6 run to tie the game up at 50. A final attempt for the win was taken by Ashley Johnson but fell short.

In overtime, the Broncs went back to their proven game and free throws made the game. With 17 freebies taken just in OT, the Broncs connected on all five of theirs while the Mastodons went 8-12.

UTPA edged the 'Dons, 13-10 in overtime to finish the game, 63-60.

Lewis-Carlisle and Johnson each put up 17 points for IPFW.

Jenny Green put up the defense with seven boards, Johnson followed closely with six.

UTPA was led by Devin Reed with 14 points while MaHogany Daniel put up a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

IPFW will now travel to Texas A&M Corpus Christi (2/6) and Purdue (2/9) before finishing out their season at home with a six game home stand.
