Mastodons Fall to Jaguars

Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW was only down by 7 at the half, but they were never able to recover from runs by the IUPUI Jaguars. The Jaguars won by nine, 59-50.

The Mastodons shot better in the second half, hitting 41.9% of their shots but only 32.8% overall. Defense was the name of the game, with 12 blocks, 17 steals and 40 turnovers for the game between both teams.

Juliane Höhne led the Mastodons with 14 points and pulled down seven boards. Höhne led in blocks with three and also had a steal.

Ashley Johnson hit for 12 points along with two blocks, two steals and five rebounds. Johnson was 4-11 from the field and 4-6 at the charity stripe.

Johnna Lewis-Carlisle rounded out the Dons top scorers with 10 points. She also put up four assists and two steals in 33 minutes. Lewis-Carlisle hit 5-12 from the field.

For the Jaguars, Kia Hayes pulled down 16 while Tanika Mays had 14 points. Jernisha Cann was the top rebounder for IUPUI with eight.

December 11th marks the first Hoopla double-header featuring Purdue, Valparaiso, Northern Iowa and the Mastodons. IPFW will take on Northern Iowa starting at 1:00 pm at the Coliseum and the Purdue/Valpo match-up will follow.
