Islanders Defeat Dons in Second Round of Tourney

Orem, UT – IPFW was down by only nine at the end of the first half to Texas A&M Corpus Christi at day two of the Independent Tournament. During the second, the Islanders pulled ahead and finished the Dons, 60-82.

Freshman Johnna Lewis-Carlisle and senior Verea Bibbs each put up 14 points for the Dons.

Sophomore Hilary O'Connell pulled down eight boards for the evening.

Junior Kelly Boyd made her mark on the defensive side with six blocks and two steals. Lewis-Carlisle chipped in four steals for the game.

For the Islanders, three were in double figures. Terra Andrews scored 27, Kirbria Lewis had 16, and Lindsey Van Dorn had 12 to wrap up the top three. Jackie Ododa had 14 boards for the evening.

The Dons will continue on in the Independent Tournament on Saturday agaisnt Savannah State at 4:00 pm.
