Titans Fight Back in Second Half to Overcome Dons

Fort Wayne, IN – Even though the weather was frightful outside, the game went on inside the Coliseum. The Detroit Titans came back in the second half to overcome the Dons 75-67.

The senior class put up a total of 29 points but it wasn’t enough to finish off the Titans. Senior Verea Bibbs (Euclid, OH/Euclid) came off the bench and chipped in 15 for the Dons. Bibbs was 6 of 9 from the field and 3 of 5 at the line. Senior Courtney Nicley (Lebanon, IN/Western Boone) and sophomore Ashley Johnson (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) each chipped in 14 points for the Dons.

Defensively, it was Bibbs again, this time with eight boards. Junior Jenny Green (Lansing, MI/Lansing Catholic) had five boards for the evening. Sophomore Hilary O’Connell (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) chipped in three steals for the Dons.

For the Titans, Katie Solner had 19 points and was followed by Caitie Goddard with fourteen.

The Dons are on the road this weekend with games at Longwood University (Jan. 8) and Radford (Jan. 10). Their next home game in January 18 versus the Penguins of Youngstown State University starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Gates Center.
