Lewis-Carlisle Hits a Career High in Loss to South Dakota

Fort Wayne, IN – IPFW’s Johnna Lewis-Carlisle hit a career high, but the Dons could not hit enough to finish the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State. South Dakota State was up by fourteen at the half, but the Dons fought back and kept the second half close but could not make up the first half deficit and fell, 90-73.

Freshman Johnna Lewis-Carlisle (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) had a career high 27 points for the afternoon. Overall she was 11 of 15 from the field, 4 of 6 from beyond the arc and perfect at the charity stripe. Lewis-Carlisle also recorded three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal for the afternoon.

Senior Courtney Nicley (Lebanon, IN/Western Boone) had 14 points and sophomore Ashley Johnson (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) had 13 for the Dons. Senior Verea Bibbs (Euclid, OH/Euclid) was the only other Don in double figures with 10 points. Bibbs and Johnson also had five rebounds each.

For the Jackrabbits, five players hit double figures in scoring. Heather Sieler had 19, Shannon Schlagel had 18, Sarita DeBoer had 11, and Stephanie Bolden and Megan Vogel each chipped in 10. Defensively, Sarita DeBoer also had nine rebounds.

The Dons are at home on Sunday, February 6, versus the Bears of the University of Northern Colorado at 1:00 p.m. at the Gates Center.
