Salt
Lake City, UT –
The new year did not start off on a good note as the Dons traveled
west to take on the Utes of the University of Utah. The Dons
were unable to make up a 13 point deficit at half, 17-30.
Although they picked up in the scoring category in the second,
the Utes were still able to keep their lead and finish 62-42.
Junior Geneva Murdock (Fort Wayne, IN/North Side), starting
her first game this season, put in 11 points for the Dons
as well as 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Murdock made all
four of her
attempts, including one from beyond the arc as well as being
perfect at the line (2-2).
Sophomore Ashley Johnson (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) also scored
11 points and had four rebounds and two steals. Sophomore
Molly
Martin (Terre Haute, IN/Noblesville) had four boards for
the afternoon.
For Utah, Kim Smith had 28 points and nine boards. The next
closest Ute was Lana Sitterud with nine points.
The Mastodons next home game is Wednesday January 5 versus
