Bears Fight Back to Finish the Dons, 78-65

Fort Wayne, IN – The Dons took on the Bears of the University of Northern Colorado for a second time this season hoping for a different outcome. The Dons took an early lead, but the Bears fought back and finished the half with a13 point lead. In the second, each team scored 41 points, but the Dons could not make up for the 13 point lead and fell to the Bears.

Senior Verea Bibbs (Euclid, OH/Euclid) led the Dons with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman Johnna Lewis-Carlisle (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) put in 14 points for the afternoon. She was 4 of 8 from beyond the arc and also had three steals.

Senior Courtney Nicley (Lebanon, IN/Western Boone) had 13 points for the game and was 5 of 15 from the field. Sophomore Ashley Johnson (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) put in 10 points for the Dons and two steals.

For the Bears, Kayla Flavin had 17 points and Bailey Dillon had eleven. Danielle Hagen had eight boards for the afternoon.

The Dons next game is on Thursday, February 10 versus the Panthers of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a double header at the Memorial Coliseum. The game starts at 6 p.m. with the men following at 8 p.m.
