Three-Peat for Lewis-Carlisle

Fort Wayne, IN – Freshman Johnna Lewis-Carlisle was named Newcomer of the Week for the third time for the week of February 13-20 as voted on by Division I Independent women's basketball teams' Sports Information Directors.

In two games last week, Lewis-Carlisle averaged 18.5 ppg and 3.5 rpg. In the loss to Longwood, Lewis-Carlisle scored 19 points including five three-pointers. She had four boards, two assists and a steal. In the 63-62 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Lewis-Carlisle had 18 points (7-18), and perfect at the charity stripe. She also added a block, one assist, and three steals.

Associate head coach Chris Paul commented, “As a coaching staff, we are very proud of the progress Johnna has made during this season, both on the offensive and defensive ends of the court. We are playing our best basketball of the year right now, and Johnna is a major reason for that."

Other players nominated included Tynesha Pierce, U. of Texas-Pan American and Andrea Verdegan, South Dakota State.
