Lewis-Carlisle Named Newcomer of the Week

Fort Wayne, IN – Freshman Johnna Lewis-Carlisle was named Newcomer of the Week for the week of November 29 - December 6 as voted by Division I Independent women's basketball teams' sports information directors.

Lewis-Carlisle recorded a career high 26 points against Akron on December 2
to lead IPFW to their first victory of the season. She was 11 of 23 from
the field (.478) and 8 of 14 from beyond the arc (.571) and perfect at
the line making both of her attempts. Lewis-Carlisle had four assists and four
steals between the games against Iowa State and Akron. Her point per
game average for those two games was 16 ppg while only averaging 20
minutes per game.

"Johnna has incredible talent, when she decides that she wants to bring her intensity to the college level on a full time basis she is going to be very special," said head coach Bruce Patterson.

Associate head coach Chris Paul commented, "[Coming into the Akron game] We had been struggling shooting the basketball. Johnna stepped up and really got us going. When Johnna is focused, she can put up points in a hurry."

Other players nominated included Rebekah Fales of Utah Valley State; Kathy Guin of University of Texas-Pan American; and Andrea Verdegan of South Dakota State.
