Bulldogs Slip Past Mastodons, 62-60

Indianapolis, IN – The Bulldogs of Butler University just slipped past the Mastodons in a close game at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Dons were down by seven at half, outscored the Bulldogs in the second, but fell short at the end.

Senior Verea Bibbs (Euclid, OH/Euclid) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Ashley Johnson (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) followed with 12 points.

Bibbs also recorded four steals for the evening. Sophomore Molly Martin (Terre Haute, IN/Noblesville) followed with three steals. Freshman Natalie Roberts (Cambridge City, IN/Lincoln) recorded six rebounds.

For the Bulldogs, Ashley Brenden had 12 points and 10 rebounds. She was followed by Ellen Hamilton with 12 points and Cassie Freeman with 11 points. Gina Grussing had 10 boards.

The Mastodons are on the road on Thursday at IUPUI with a 7:00 p.m. start time. Their next home game is Wednesday January 5 versus Detroit at the Memorial Coliseum with a 6:00 p.m. start time.
