Penguins Skate Past Mastodons

Youngstown, OH- Youngstown State University used a 15-5 run at the beginning of the second half to pull away from IPFW, on the way to a 72-62 win at the Beeghly Center Saturday afternoon, in women’s college basketball.

The Mastodons (6-12) did not go away easily, making nine of their last 14 shots to close to within seven, with about a minute remaining in the contest, but YSU hit eight straight from the foul-line to secure their second win of the season (2-16).

Jen Perugini tossed in a game-high 14 points of the bench for the Penguins.

IPFW was led by senior forward Amy Gearlds (Beech Grove, IN) and junior center Verea Bibbs (Euclid, OH) each with 12 points.

Sophomore forward Geneva Murdock (Fort Wayne, IN) was the only other ‘Don in double figures with ten.

IPFW continues its Ohio road trip on Monday (1/26) with a game at Cleveland State at 7pm.
