Fort
Wayne, IN- The IPFW women's basketball team overcame a
sluggish first half to top Chicago State 84-64, Monday night at
the Memorial Coliseum.
Chicago State
(5-11) ran the floor well in the first half, on a the way to
a one-point lead at the half (32-31).
But, the
Mastodons got the better of the play in the second half, riding
the continued hot scoring of senior forward Amy Gearlds (Beech
Grove, IN). Gearlds tossed in a game high 25 points, including
four three-pointers. Gearlds is quickly approaching the 1,500
point mark in her career with 1,401.
Junior center
Verea Bibbs (Euclid, OH) posted a double-double with 22 points
and ten rebounds.
Sophomore
forward Geneva Murdock (Fort Wayne, IN) joined Gearlds and
Bibbs in double figures with twelve, including two three's.
Chicago State
was led by Kafayat Davies with a 20 point effort.
The Mastodons
(6-10) return to action on Thursday night (1/22) hosting Wisconsin-Green
Bay at 7pm, at the Gates Center.
