Gearlds’ Drops 31 on Morehead State
Mastodons win 2nd Straight

Fort Wayne, IN-IPFW senior forward Amy Gearlds poured in a game-high 31 points to lead the Mastodons to a 102-82 win over Morehead State University at the Gates Center on Monday night.

Geralds (Beech Grove, IN), who was a point shy of tying her career high-scoring mark, was 11-20 from the floor and 4-4 from the foul-line. Her five three-pointers in the first half staked IPFW to a 45-34 lead at the intermission.

In the second half, the Mastodons (4-8) spread the scoring around with six ‘Dons hitting for double figures.

Junior center Verea Bibbs (Euclid, OH) tossed in 22 points in only 25 minutes of action. Junior guard Courtney Nicley (Lebanon, IN) hit for 14 points. Maggie Bruening (Sr/G/Fort Wayne, IN) got a double-double the hard way with 12 points and ten assists. Geneva Murdock (So/F/Fort Wayne, IN) added eleven, and Jenny Green (So/F/Lansing, MI) chipped in ten.

The Lady Eagles were deadly from the outside tonight, hitting 14 three-pointers, including seven from Megen Gearhart who finished with a team high 23 points. Three other Lady Eagles hit for double figures.

Morehead State (3-8) won the battle of the boards 34-30, but were out-shot 55%-42%.

IPFW will take to the road for their next three games. The trip begins on Wednesday night (1/7) at Air Force.
