Women’s Basketball loses Finale

Valparaiso, IN- The Valparaiso Lady Crusaders used a 37-8 run over, a 15-minute stretch, to easily out-distance the Mastodons, in the 2003-04 season finale, 80-65.

Valpo’s run began with 8-minutes left in the first half and stretched to the 13-minute mark of the second half.

The Lady Crusaders (16-11) owned a 19 point half-time lead, 38-19, mostly due to only 25-percent shooting by IPFW.

One ‘Don that had it working, was junior guard Courtney Nicley (Lebanon, IN). Nicley drilled six triples and finished the day with a game-high 22 points. She also added 11 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Senior forward Amy Gearlds (Beech Grove, IN) finished her Mastodon’s career as the school’s 3rd All-Time scorer. She was the only other ‘Don in double figures with twelve.

Shooting guard Kathryn Knoester was tops for Valpo with 21 points.

With the loss, IPFW finishes the season with a record of 8-20.
