Gearlds, Bruening a Big Hit on Senior Night

Fort Wayne, IN- Seniors Amy Gearlds and Maggie Bruening played their final games at the Gates Center on Monday night, and in fine fashion, they led IPFW to an 82-69 win over Wright State University.

Gearlds (Beech Grove, IN) drilled five triples and finished with a game-high 26 points. The senior forward also grabbed seven rebounds, and had three steals.

Bruening (Fort Wayne, IN) was one assist shy of a double-double. She knocked down three three’s in her 15 point total, and she dished out nine assists. Bruening also grabbed five rebounds and had two steals.

Junior guard Courtney Nicley (Lebanon, IN) was nice indeed. Nicley scored 23 points and had eight rebounds.

IPFW led by ten at the intermission, and was never seriously challenged in the second half.

Wright State (6-19) got a game-high tying 26 from smooth guard Brittney Whiteside. The Raiders also had two other players in double figures.

With the win, the Mastodons improve to 8-19 on the season, and they will play their final home game of the year Saturday (2/28) at Valparaiso. Game time is 2:05pm
