Mastodons Fall in OT

Corpus Christi, TX- Texas A&M Corpus Christi’s Nicole Duncan tied it in regulation, and hit what proved to be the game-winner in overtime, and the Islanders held off the IPFW Mastodons 82-79, on Friday night in Texas.

Duncan hit a jumper with 23 seconds left in the game to tie it at 72, and send it into OT.

In overtime, IPFW took a five point lead, but Duncan drilled a three-pointer to give TAMUCC (18-9) a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Junior guard Courtney Nicley (Lebanon, IN) poured in a season-high 19 points for the Mastodons (7-19).

Amy Gearlds (Sr/F/Beech Grove, IN) registered a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Verea Bibbs (Jr/C/Euclid, OH) and Maggie Bruening (Sr/G/Fort Wayne, IN) also reached double-figures with 15 and 12 respectively.

Center Jackie Ododa led the Islanders with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Kirbria Lewis tossed in seventeen.

IPFW will play their final home game of the 2003-04 season on Monday night (2/23) against Wright State. Game time on Senior Night is 7pm.
