Panthers Cruise to Win

Milwaukee, WI - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers hit the ground running, and didn't stop until the final buzzer on Thursday night, beating IPFW 87-67 at the US Cellular Arena.

After a brief early lead, UWM (12-10) ran away and hid. Led by the inside play of center Maria Viall, the Panthers led 46-32 at the half.

Viall was game-high with 23 points and cleaned the boards for 18 rebounds in leading UWM to a 27 point lead, before cruising to the 20-point win.

Nichole Drummond and Molly O'Brien also hit in double figures for the Panthers with 16 and 10 points respectively.

The Mastodons were led again by senior forward Amy Gearlds (Beech Grove, IN) with 20 points.

Sophomore forward Geneva Murdock (Fort Wayne, IN) had the shooting touch going tonight, hitting 5 of 9 from the floor, including three triples.

Senior guard Maggie Bruening (Fort Wayne, IN) also bagged double digits in the game with eleven.

IPFW (7-16) continues their tour of Wisconsin on Saturday (2/14) with an afternoon contest with Wisconsin-Green Bay. The Mastodons will look to avenge an 80-71 loss earlier this season at the Gates Center.
