Jeff
Ptak Selected Second Team ALL-AVCA
Colorado
Springs, CO. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)
announced today that IPFW’s Jeff Ptak (Hamburg, New York) has been
selected to the 13th annual AVCA All-America Second Team for men's
volleyball.
Ptak, a 6-5 senior outside hitter, was named MIVA Player
of the Year as he led the league in kills per game at 5.18. He
recorded a tremendous outing on March 21 against Loyola with 43
kills in a four-game match, the most kills by any NCAA player since
the introduction of rally scoring.
Ptak also
added 1.23 digs and 0.71 blocks per game to the Mastodons defense.
He ranked fourth
in average points scored in 2003.
“Jeff’s
athletic abilities on the court have been noticed throughout
the realm of collegiate level, as one of the best men’s volleyball
players in the nation,” said Head Coach Arnie Ball. “It is
a tremendous honor for Jeff to be named to the AVCA All American
Second Team. His hard work and dedication here at IPFW and
to the sport has made him one of the primary candidates for
the USA Men’s World University Team.”
