Arnie’s Army Captures Second Win

Fort Wayne, IN- Playing in front of a raucous crowd at the Memorial Coliseum, the IPFW men's volleyball raised their record to 2-0, with a 3-0 win over George Mason University on Saturday night.

Arnie's Army jumped on the Patriots from the opening serve and didn't let up. The Mastodons swept the match by the scores of 30-16, 30-28, and 35-33.

IPFW was led again by outside right Matt Zbyszewski (Sr/Toronto, Ontario, Canada) who put down 22 kills. Zbyszewski also had four assists and eight digs.

Junior setter Dennis Santiago posted 39 assists and four digs of his own in the match.

As a team, IPFW outslugged George Mason (0-2) .340 to .150.

Sophomores Serdar Sikca (MH/Istanbul, Turkey) and Mike Daiga (MH/Columbus, OH) anchored the 'Dons' defensive effort with eight and seven total blocks respectively.

IPFW returns back to action at the Gates Center on Saturday night (1/24), hosting Final Four participant Penn State at 7pm.
