World University
Team Blasts Netherlands
Daegu,
South Korea- Apparently losing does not sit well with
the U.S. Men’s Volleyball team. After dropping their first match
of the 2003 World University Games to Denmark, the U.S. squad
came back on Monday to shut-out the Netherlands in three straight
games.
The U.S. was never seriously challenged in this one, winning
by the scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-21.
Sean Rooney of Pepperdine (12 kills) and Evan Patak of UC-Santa
Barbara
(11 kills)
led the United State offensive attack.
Head Coach Arnie
Ball’s team is now 3-1 in Pool “B” play. Their
final preliminary round match is Tuesday against D.P.R. Korea.
Quarter Final action begins on Thursday, with the Finals slated
for August 31st.
Note:
Pool "B" Teams include: United States, Ukraine, Netherlands,
Canada, Denmark, and D.P.R. Korea.
