World University Team Blasts Netherlands

Daegu, South Korea- Apparently losing does not sit well with the U.S. Men’s Volleyball team. After dropping their first match of the 2003 World University Games to Denmark, the U.S. squad came back on Monday to shut-out the Netherlands in three straight games.

The U.S. was never seriously challenged in this one, winning by the scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-21.

Sean Rooney of Pepperdine (12 kills) and Evan Patak of UC-Santa Barbara
(11 kills) led the United State offensive attack.

Head Coach Arnie Ball’s team is now 3-1 in Pool “B” play. Their final preliminary round match is Tuesday against D.P.R. Korea.

Quarter Final action begins on Thursday, with the Finals slated for August 31st.

Note:
Pool "B" Teams include: United States, Ukraine, Netherlands, Canada, Denmark, and D.P.R. Korea.
