Cleveland,
OH – The IPFW men’s and women’s tennis teams
came home victorious with 4-3 wins on Tuesday. The men continued
their streak of being undefeated against a tough Cleveland
State team. The women also came away with a win which makes
them lead the series against Cleveland State 3-2.
The Mastodons jumped off to a great start with wins in the
top three spots in the line-up. Seniors Michael Parker, freshman
Carlos Gonzalez, and junior Ian Leonhardt grabbed wins along
with sophomore Ryan Orr. In the doubles play, Leonhardt/Jessy
Nikho were the only ones that came out on top.
The Lady Vikings got wins from the top three singles in
the line-up but the Mastodons prevailed with wins by freshman
Lisa Bartelheim, sophomore Beth
Miller and freshman Jessica
Vervynckt. The match was won by the pairings of Miller/Vervynckt
and Bartelheim/Michelle Humphrey.
The Mastodons next compete in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships
at Michigan State.
