Detroit Takes Two from Mastodons

Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW Softball team hosted the Detroit Titans for a twinbill Thursday afternoon. The Titans took both, 5-0 in game one and 12-0 in game two after five innings.

Game one started off scoreless until the Titans began to post runs in the fifth. In game two Detroit started off in the first on their scoring run and pounded the 'Dons in the fifth with an eight run inning.

Overall the Titans had 21 hits and scored 17 runs. The Mastodons finished the afternoon with nine hits. IPFW committed just three errors for the day.

Abby Liden was 3-5 with a double for the twinbill. Kayla Vargo and Beatrice Pedraza each went 1-3 for the afternoon.

On the mound, Katie Aspegren took the loss in game one but did not give up an earned run while striking out five batters. Jenna Connelly pitched game two and struck out three while walking one. Natalie Clark came in to close in each game.

The Mastodons have been held scoreless since their loss on March 29th to Michigan State (13-2). Tomorrow they hope to break out of the slump with a single game against Notre Dame College starting at 3 pm.
