Mastodons
Survive Weather Delay, not Bears
Springfield,
MO-IPFW and Southwest Missouri State had to wait out
an hour and a half lightning delay on Friday night, on the first
day of the SMS Soccer Tournament.
But, it
was the lightning from the foot of Bears' forward Ryan Crawford
that did the most damage. Crawford scored his fifth goal in
the last four games dropping the Mastodons to 4-4, with a 1-nil
loss.
Crawford's
game winner came just 8:45 into the match, on a night where
'Dons goal keeper Peter Hachaj (Jr/Palatine,
IL) made seven saves. The Bears outshot IPFW 21-3 in the match.
SMS goal
keeper Matt Pickens turned aside the only shot he faced for
the win.
The Mastodons
will face Drury on Sunday in Springfield. Drury was a 1-0 loser
to Oral Roberts earlier in the day on Friday.
