IPFW
Prevents Phoenix from Rising
Fort
Wayne, IN- The IPFW men’s soccer team took out a little
frustration on Friday evening, at the expense of the University
of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The Mastodons made sure they wouldn’t
be shut-out, for a third consecutive match, by scoring early
and often in a 4-0 thrashing of the Phoenix at the Hefner Soccer
Fields.
Senior midfielder Garrett
Buck (Louisville, KY) got the scoring
barrage started just, 1:39 in, by blasting an indirect kick
past UWGB goal keeper Pat Czuprynski.
At the 22 minute mark, IPFW went ahead 2-0 as Joe
Schuring (So/M/Portage, MI) controlled a loose ball in the crease and
just the got redirect it into the net.
In the second half, the Mastodons increased their lead to
3-0 when Trevor Peaslee (So/D/Kalamazoo, MI) broke free, dribble
into the box, and went top-shelf inside the right goal post.
IPFW finished off the scoring at the 65 minute mark. Craig
Vande Vusse (So/M/Kalamazoo, MI) placed a perfect feed to a
streaking Seth Fishelson (Jr/F/Beverly, MA), who chipped the
ball over a prone Czuprynski.
With the win, IPFW moved to 3-2 on the season. The ‘Dons will
host Butler University on Sunday (9/14) at 1pm.
