Press Release JUNE
7,
2004 Mastodons Continue to add Depth Fort Wayne, IN- IPFW Men’s Head Basketball Coach Doug Noll has announced the signing of two more players to the Mastodons’ program. The first is 6’9” Zeljko Egeric of Split, Croatia and Life Center Academy in Bordentown, New Jersey. Zeljko (pronounced Jelco Egrick) completed his senior season this past year and averaged 10 points and six rebounds per game. Coach Noll stated that he is very pleased to find someone of Zeljko’s skill this late in the year. “He is a typical Eastern European player that is long and can face the basket with perimeter skills,” Noll said. “He is a very good shooter from three, but his passing and game instincts set him apart. The only thing “Z” needs at this point is experience at the college level and strength. We would no doubt like to get ten to fifteen minutes from Zeljko this season, with the possibilities of red-shirting him his sophomore year for development.” Noll has also signed 6’6” wing, DeWitt Scott of Whitney Young High School (Chicago, IL) and Maryland Eastern Shore. Scott is transferring in this year to IPFW. Scott will have to sit out the 2004-2005 season, but will have three years of eligibility left. DeWitt averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds his senior year at Whitney Young. He played sparingly as a freshmen at Maryland Eastern Shore. Noll recruited Scott several years ago and felt he could be a real good college basketball player. “He is long and can handle the ball, and shoots it very well,” Noll said. “He played behind a lot of seniors last year at Maryland, but I feel that with our great conditioning program, and the desire DeWitt has, he will fit in very well and contribute right away in 2005-2006.” Scott, also an
exceptional student, played in junior high with current IPFW 6’10
freshmen red-shirt Charles Campbell.
