Pete Campbell hits three of his 28 vs. Kent State

“Soup” Named Newcomer of the Week

Greeley, CO- For the second time this year, IPFW freshman forward Pete “Soup” Campbell has been named the Division-I Independent Newcomer of the week, in voting conducted by Division-I Independent Men’s Basketball Sports Information Directors.

In his first career start, Campbell tossed in a (then) career high 21-points in IPFW’s 79-59 win over Youngstown State. And, Campbell went 5-5 from behind the 3-point line, for a team-high 15 points, in the Mastodon’s loss at Wyoming.

For the week, Campbell averaged 18 points and 3 rebounds/game, was 8-12 from behind the arc, and was a perfect 4-4 from the foul line. Campbell was also named Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 14.

With a strong game against Utah Valley State, Campbell could be in line for his first player of the week nod, next week. He scored a “new” career-high 28 points and 10 rebounds against Kent State last night.

Archibeque earns the award for the second straight week after averaged 24.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists/game and shot 73.1% (19-26) from the field and 78.6% (11-14) from the free throw line in two games last week as the Bears defeated Longwood 99-91 fell to Utah Valley State 67-64 in overtime. Archibeque hit on 11-13 shots (84.6%) versus Longwood, the 12th highest field goal percentage in a game by a D-I player this season (the second time this season he has hit that percentage). He scored 28 points (his second highest total of the season) and added five rebounds in that game while dishing out three assists. Versus Utah Valley State, Archibeque had 21 points and a career-high 15 rebounds (the highest total for a Bears player in three years) in the overtime loss. His layup with three seconds left in regulation help the Bears tie the game and force
overtime. He had two assists in that game and hit on 8-13 (61.5%) field goal attempts in the game.
Ryan Moore • F • Sr. • Brea, Calif. • UC Davis
In two games last week Moore averaged 25.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists/game and shot .613 (19-31) from the field, .333 (3-9) from three-point range and .818 (9-11) from the free throw line. In the 66-65 victory at UC Riverside, Moore sparked an Aggie comeback from 15 points down in the second half by scoring the last 10 Aggie points in the final three minutes, including a game-winning putback as time expired for the one-point victory. He finished the game with 25 points and seven rebounds as UC Davis earned its first win of the season against a Big West opponent. Last Saturday at UC Santa Barbara (a 67-62 loss), Moore scored a game-high 25 points, 21 in the second half, while grabbing nine rebounds. For the season Moore is averaging team-highs of 15.5 ppg and 4.2 rpg. He has scored at least 25 points in three of the last four games.
