Press Release JANUARY
5,
2005 Bauer's Career-High 22 Points Not Enough Fort Wayne, IN – Sophomore guard Beau Bauer tossed in a career-high 22 points, including seven three-pointers, but IPFW could not hold off a second half surge by Middle Tennessee State University, losing to the Blue Raiders, 66-61. Bauer (Walton, IN) helped stake IPFW to an eight point first half lead, hitting five of his first six from behind the arc. But, Middle Tennessee State kept the rest of the Mastodons in check, and fought back to trail by only one at the half, 30-29. IPFW opened up a six point lead at the 12:41 mark of the second half on a dunk by senior center David Simon, but a three-pointer by the Blue Raiders' Mike Dean, a minute later, gave MTSU a lead they would never relinquish. Bauer's 22 was game-high. Simon added 17 points and seven rebounds. Junior forward Quintin Butler was the only other Mastodon in double-figures with ten. Michael Cuffee was tops for Middle Tennessee State (10-4) with 17 points. Dean added 16 and Marcus Morrison tossed in eleven. IPFW has now dropped seven in-a-row and falls to 3-12. They will return to action on January 10th at Wyoming.
